Class Request 2021-2022

Class Request

Dear Truedell Families,

Creating class lists is a shared task by our team of educators.  Throughout the school year, we spend a significant amount of time getting to know your child, discovering their academic, social, and emotional needs in educational settings both inside and outside of the classroom. Each year we strive to build the best possible learning environments for all students. Our school team considers a wide range of factors including the overall number of students in each grade (if a split grade), student learning styles and personalities, the number of boys and girls, academic strengths and needs, peer relationships, learning skills and work habits, and social/emotional strengths and needs.

All classrooms, whether a single grade or a combined grade, include students performing at a wide range of achievement levels. We meet the needs of all learners in a classroom through differentiated instruction, with a focus on developing critical thinking skills, and by providing modifications and accommodations for various learning needs.  In every case, Truedell staff put a lot of thought into creating responsive classroom learning environments that will support the success of all students.

If you wish to make a request for a class placement for next year for your child, it must be made by email to Ms. Jacob by Monday June 14th at noon.  Please keep in mind that these are requests which will be taken into consideration, but that a request does not guarantee a particular class placement.

I am sure that many of you have heard that Ms. McFarlane is retiring at the end of this school year.  She has been a valued member of the Truedell family, and we are truly sad to see her go.  We wish her many wonderful adventures ahead!

Mrs. Hewitt is off to a new experience working in Kindergarten at Lancaster E.S.  She has been at Truedell for many years, serving in various roles, including as a parent, Parent Council Co-Chair, Educational Assistant, and Early Childhood Educator.  We wish her every success!

Ms. White will also be moving on to a different school placement next year.  Our primary students enjoyed having her introduce them to the French language this year.  Thanks, Ms. White!

New to our teaching staff next year, is Mr. Keeler, who will be teaching Grade 7 and Ms. Hilton, who will teach Grade 5/6.  We are pleased to have them joining the Truedell Team!

Sincerely,
