📝 Principal's Message

Dear Timberwolf Families,

What an incredible week we had at Truedell to wrap up October! From the energy of our Monster Mash Dance-A-Thon to the hands-on learning with the Queen’s Connections Tech 'n' Tinker Trailer, there was excitement and engagement all around. Our athletes continued to show teamwork and school spirit on the volleyball court, and classes enjoyed seasonal fun and outdoor learning during their pumpkin patch adventures. It was a wonderful week of connection, creativity, and community.

The Monster Mash was a huge hit this year — we smashed records with a total of $1,933 raised! Thank you to the Truedell community for your support and to our School Advisory Council for making making this much-loved annual event such a success!

We hope everyone enjoyed the festivities and is ready to welcome November with renewed energy and enthusiasm! As we move into this new month, we continue to celebrate our students’ curiosity, teamwork, and school spirit here at Truedell.

Photo Retakes & Class Photos – Monday
We’ll start the week with photo retakes and class photos on Monday. If students missed their original photo day or would like their photo redone, this is the perfect opportunity. Be sure to bring your best smiles!

Knit Club is starting on Wed, Nov 5th in the library at second recess. Knit club is open to all students Grade 3+. Students are welcome to bring their own projects and supplies or use the complimentary supplies from our school. Thank you to Ms. Shunk for leading this opportunity for our students.

Girls Volleyball – Home Game vs. Collins Bay PS (Tuesday)
Our Girls Volleyball Team will take to the court at home on Tuesday as they face off against Collins Bay. We’re so proud of their hard work, teamwork, and school spirit. Let’s cheer them on as they continue to make us proud. Go Timberwolves!

Boys Volleyball – Home Game vs. Welborne Avenue PS (Wednesday)
On Wednesday, our Boys Volleyball Team will host Welborne for another exciting home match. Their dedication and skill continue to shine, and we can’t wait to see them in action again this week.

National Indigenous Veterans Day
On November 8th, we recognize National Indigenous Veterans Day, a day to honour the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people who have served, and continue to serve, in Canada’s Armed Forces. Over 12,000 Indigenous veterans fought in the First and Second World Wars and the Korean War, often overcoming incredible challenges just to enlist. Many returned home to continued discrimination, yet their courage, sacrifice, and leadership have left a lasting impact throughout generations.

You may also see or wear a beaded poppy this month, a symbol that honours Indigenous veterans while blending remembrance with Indigenous artistry, care, and tradition. Let's take a moment to reflect on the bravery and resilience of all those who have served, and to remember them with gratitude and respect.

Progress Reports and Kindergarten Initial Observations of Learning

Progress Reports and Kindergarten Initial Observations will be sent home on November 13. These initial reports give families an overview of student progress toward curriculum expectations, as well as key strengths and next steps for continued learning. If you have any questions about the progress reports, please contact your child's teacher.

As we begin November, we’re filled with gratitude for our wonderful students, families, and staff who make Truedell such a caring and dynamic community. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Let’s make it another great week of learning, growth, and connection.

Keep up the amazing spirit, Timberwolves!

Yours in education,
David Allison
Principal

Student Census 2025 - See Yourself in Limestone

Limestone is committed to creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for all students. To help us better understand how students’ identities and experiences relate to their achievement and well-being, we are launching our second See Yourself in Limestone Student Census Survey this fall.

The census is a voluntary and confidential survey for students in Grades 4 to 12, running from November 24 to 28, 2025. It gathers information about students’ identities and their experiences at school. This data is then paired with academic information to help us understand what school is like for different groups of students.

Important information for families:

  • The survey is optional.
  • Responses are confidential and students can skip any questions they do not wish to answer.
  • Students will complete the survey during class time.
  • Students who do not participate will be provided with an alternative activity.

Families who do not want their student(s) to complete the survey must contact their school principal by Friday, November 14, 2025. Opting out means the student will not receive the survey in their email inbox.

By better understanding students’ identities and experiences, we can remove barriers and better support students in accessing what they need to succeed.

Stay Up to Date on Bus Delays and Cancellations

Sign up for Bus Status Alerts through Tri-Board’s Student Portal

  • Families should sign up for bus status alerts by creating an account in Tri-Board’s Student Portal. Families can add their student to their account, so they are signed up to receive alerts for their specific bus and zone cancellations.
  • When all transportation is cancelled across the district, the notification is sent as a general notice from Tri-Board to everyone with an account. Tri-Board does their best to post this alert by 6:00 a.m.
  • Tri-Board will be communicating all bus delays and cancellations. The LDSB will not be communicating this information directly with families. The best way to receive communication regarding bus cancellations or delays is through the Student Portal.
