<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">📝 Principal's Message</h2> The warmer weather seems to have arrived😊A wonderful day on last Wednesday, when our flag football team brought home the Calvin Cup. They played with fairness, determination and represented our school. Thanks to coaches Evan and Noah who dedicated many hours to practice and guide our players. Thank you to Mr. Keeler for being the staff support for the team.Springfest, on 5th June, promises to be a fun-filled evening filled with family fun and community building opportunities. Thank you to all who have brought in class basket items, raffle items and volunteer forms. Volunteers are required for organizing silent auction items, selecting games, managing inflatables, arranging prizes and treats, constructing and cataloguing class baskets, and assisting before, during, and after the event. Individuals interested in volunteering are invited to contact Jennifer King at <a href="mailto:jennifercelineking@gmail.com" class="editor-link">jennifercelineking@gmail.com</a>Our annual talent show is on 22nd June. Auditions began this week. Many students came prepared and rehearsed for their moment to shine. Auditions will continue next week. We are excited to showcase out Timberwolf talent. Make sure you practice to be ready for the show😊. Thank you Ms. Olding for your time and talent.Our gardening club is starting to clean up, weed and plant to assist with beautifying the front of our school. If you have perennials, soil, bulbs or bedding plants that you are willing to donate we would love to have them. Thank you in advance.On Thursday, 28th May, Truedell will be sending 3 teams of Grade 6 & 7 students to compete in the Bayridge Elementary Computer Challenge at Bayridge Secondary School. The competition begins at 4:00pm. Good luck T-Wolves. Our Words Matter initiative is underway! Classes took time to write notes to significant folks in the building on Wednesday. The delivery of these ‘notes of care’ brought tears to some of our staff. We will continue our focus on this important work in educating students that the words we use DO MATTER. The program reminds us this isn’t just about addressing harmful words; it’s about creating lasting, respectful, and inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive. By engaging educators with practical tools and empowering them to confidently respond to discriminatory language, empowering student voice and engaging parents/caregivers you’ll foster a culture that values respect and unity.A reminder that graduation is Friday, 19th June @ 6pm. <h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">📝 Principal's Message</h2>Spring has arrived! Although... the snowfall on April 6th was a surprise, we are excited to see grass and pavement again. We continue to provide many physical opportunities for students with running club, flag football and junior basketball all underway. There are over 85 student in our running club, training three times weekly. We look forward to road racing season and to upcoming track and field meets. The dedication and perseverance displayed daily is inspiring. Great work Timberwolves! Beach day, Harry Potter evening and trips to Kingston Symphony & Robotics trip to BGC all provided rich experiential learning for students. A thank you to staff for providing these enriching experiences for our students. SAC is holding a Scholastic Book Fair next week, 14-16 April. Classes will visit the book fair to purchase books on Wednesday, 14th & Thursday 15th. The book fair will be open after school for families to visit and purchase from 3:30-5:30 on Thursday 15th April. This is a fundraiser to replenish books in our classrooms and library. It may seem like a long way off, but our grade 8's had graduation pictures this week. A reminder that graduation is Friday, 19th June @ 6pm. Our International Education team is looking for more families to become homestay hosts to great international students.We currently have 19 students on our waiting list that have applied to Limestone for 2026-2027 and need a home. They range from one semester to one year stays and are from Germany, Spain, Japan, Brazil, Slovakia, Czechia, Italy and Denmark.Host families will be paid a tax-free monthly stipend to host students. All students in the program attend local intermediate or secondary schools and range in age from 12 to 17 years old. <h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">📝 Principal's Message</h2> Greetings Families, As the time changes this weekend coupled with the chill in the air reducing, we are enjoying outdoor time. SAC has provided funds to purchase some new outdoor equipment to use during recesses. We have purchased large shovels (kindergarten yard), soccer, volleyball and basketballs. We also has a donation of tennis balls from the Kingston Racquet club that we are putting to good use. All equipment is labelled so if one accidently makes it way home please return it so we can continue to enjoy the equipment at the school. Our Winter Olympic day was a fun day for students. We thank Ms. Squarebriggs and the grade 8's for their leadership and organisation. We finished the day with hot chocolate and cookies provided by SAC before watching the women's hockey game in the gym. The excitement and support for Canada's Athletes was wonderful and I am sure will be a memory for many of their time at TPS. It may seem like a long way off, but our grade 8's had graduation pictures this week. A reminder that graduation is Friday, 19th June @ 6pm. Our grade 3 students finished their Swim to Survive program which ensures that all students are taught three basic life saving tips when they are in /around water. Our chess club went to Winston Churchill PS for the chess tournament. Each student played 7-10 games throughout the day. Our Timberwolves displayed strategy and fair play throughout the tournament. Congratulations to our silver medalist! Thank you to Ms. Hendricks for her time and dedication in providing this opportunity for students. Finally a huge shoutout to the primary division for their harmonious display of learning in the Arts displayed during the recent Celebration of the Arts concert. You showcased your choreography. singing with joy that was infectious. Thank you to Mrs. Olding and the primary teachers. A reminder that March break is 16-20 March. Many students are taking part in clubs and extracurricular activities during recess and after school, giving them opportunities to explore interests, build skills, and connect with peers. We are grateful to our staff for leading clubs and activities during recess, giving students extra opportunities to explore their interests and develop new skills. As communicated earlier in the week, we would like to share a staffing update with our school community: I served as Principal of Truedell Public School for Term 1, and as of February 2, Ms. Hilda Barrett will be assuming the role of Principal. We are pleased to welcome Ms. Barrett to the Truedell community. Our goal is to provide meaningful support to local youth who may be facing difficult circumstances this winter. The Kingston Youth Shelter offers emergency housing, essential supplies, and supportive programming for individuals aged 16-24 in the Kingston area. Winter can be an especially challenging time, and the need for donations increases significantly during the colder months. Congratulations to our boys volleyball team for their tremendous effort at the tournament on Thursday. They swept all 6 sets of the round robin and they brought home silver! Thank you to Mr. Broome for his coaching and to our students for their well-earned success!Staff even had the chance to play a second game against our volleyball champions this past week, and everyone had a great time!This week, TRUEDelf shopping day will occur on December 11, and favourite sweater/jersey day is scheduled for December 12. Our goal is to provide meaningful support to local youth who may be facing difficult circumstances this winter. The Kingston Youth Shelter offers emergency housing, essential supplies, and supportive programming for individuals aged 16-24 in the Kingston area. Winter can be an especially challenging time, and the need for donations increases significantly during the colder months. This past week was filled with meaningful learning, positive participation, and strong community spirit. Our students continue to show curiosity, kindness, and teamwork in everything they do, and we are so proud of the enthusiasm they bring to our school each day.Last week, a group of our staff faced the boys’ volleyball team in a high-energy matchup during practice. Last week was an action-packed week of experiences. Students in Ms. Hilton’s class enjoyed hands-on STEM exploration during a robotics workshop, while Ms. Squarebriggs’ class visited the Bayridge SS computer science class, where they learned about coding and explored pathways in Computer Science and Engineering. We also had a fun outing to the Kingston Frontenacs game and lots of volleyball matches that showcased our students’ teamwork and Timberwolf spirit. To help us better understand how students’ identities and experiences relate to their achievement and well-being, we are launching our second See Yourself in Limestone Student Census Survey this fall.The census is a voluntary and confidential survey for students in Grades 4 to 12, running from November 24 to 28, 2025. It gathers information about students’ identities and their experiences at school. This data is then paired with academic information to help us understand what school is like for different groups of students.Important information for families:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">The survey is optional.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Responses are confidential and students can skip any questions they do not wish to answer.</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Students will complete the survey during class time.</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Students who do not participate will be provided with an alternative activity.</li></ul>Families who do not want their student(s) to complete the survey must contact their school principal by the end of day on Monday, November 17, 2025. Families can add their student to their account, so they are signed up to receive alerts for their specific bus and zone cancellations.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">When all transportation is cancelled across the district, the notification is sent as a general notice from Tri-Board to everyone with an account. Tri-Board does their best to post this alert by 6:00 a.m.</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Tri-Board will be communicating all bus delays and cancellations. The LDSB will not be communicating this information directly with families.
