📝 Principal's Message

Dear Timberwolf Families,

It has been a wonderful start to October at our school. The changing leaves and crisp fall air have brought a sense of energy and excitement to our classrooms and schoolyard.

Last Friday, we enjoyed a fantastic day for our Annual Turkey Trot! It was wonderful to see our Grades 1 to 3 students participate with enthusiasm and determination. A big thank-you to the many parents who came out to cheer on our runners. Our older students did an excellent job setting up the course and handing out ribbons to all participants, as well as medals to the top three finishers in each group. It was excellent to see so many students encouraging their peers along the sidelines.

This Wednesday, our cross country team will be competing in the Lancaster Race Around the Park. The first race, for Atom Girls, begins at 4:00 p.m. All runners are asked to arrive before 3:45 p.m. so coaches can distribute bibs. More details are available on School Day. A canteen will be open during the event, with proceeds supporting the Lancaster running team’s purchase of new equipment and singlets. We wish our Timberwolf runners the best of luck!

Last Thursday, we were pleased to host Paul Davis, who delivered an important and engaging presentation on social media and internet safety to our Grade 7 and 8 students. He also held an evening session for parents, which led to thoughtful and productive discussions. A sincere thank-you to our School Council for organizing this valuable learning opportunity for our community.

A reminder that this Friday is a P.A. Day. Staff will be focusing on reviewing school data and setting priorities to enhance student learning.

Monday is a holiday, and we would like to wish all of our families a fantastic long weekend.

We’re excited to welcome families to our annual Open House on October 9 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Hope to see you there!

Yours in education,
David Allison
Principal

Happy World Educators' and Education Workers' Day!

World Educator Day

On October 5, we recognized World Teachers’ and Education Workers’ Day, a time to celebrate and thank all of the dedicated staff who make our school such a wonderful place for students to learn and grow.

We are deeply grateful to our staff for the care, commitment, and professionalism they show each and every day.

🎉 Soccer Success at Truedell! ⚽

Congratulations to our Open-Gender Intermediate Soccer Team on taking 1st place on Monday, and to our Competitive Intermediate Boys Team for also earning 🥇 1st place on Wednesday!

From the very first week of school, these athletes committed to an incredible training schedule, practicing not only four days a week but twice a day! One session focused on skill development and drills during recess, while the other featured intense scrimmages. That dedication, teamwork, and perseverance truly paid off. Their sportsmanship and skill shone brightly on the field through outstanding passing, communication, crosses, and goals!

And let’s not forget the true test of endurance, September weather! On Monday, with the temperature hitting 27°C, players were cooling down in Madame Amy’s car with the A/C blasting after four intense games. Fast forward to Wednesday, and it felt like a completely different season, players were bundled up and battling the cold like it was mid-November! Only in Canada can we go from sunscreen to toques in 48 hours! 🇨🇦❄️☀️

Coach Madame Amy could not be prouder of how these teams came together and represented TRUEDELL with excellence, determination, and heart. 💛🐺

Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction

As part of LDSB's commitment to ongoing transparency and communication with families, please follow the link to Form 325-D on the LDSB website. It outlines the Human Development and Sexual Health curriculum expectations for Grades 1-8.  Families can request to have their child or children exempted from instruction related to Human Development and Sexual Health expectations by completing and returning an exemption form for each child or children (Form 325-B) five school days before the start of instruction. Prior to instruction, your child's classroom teacher will inform families when the expectations related to the Human Development and Sexual Health expectations in Strand D will be covered. For a more detailed overview of this process, please refer to Administrative Procedure (AP) 325: Exemption from Human Development and Sexual Health Instruction (listed under the Policies and Procedures Student section of the LDSB website), or contact the school.

School Attendance Matters

Consistent school attendance helps students build a strong foundation of knowledge, encourages a sense of responsibility, and allows teachers to better support each student's individual needs, leading to improved academic performance and a more cohesive classroom environment.
