To help us better understand how students’ identities and experiences relate to their achievement and well-being, we are launching our second See Yourself in Limestone Student Census Survey this fall.The census is a voluntary and confidential survey for students in Grades 4 to 12, running from November 24 to 28, 2025. It gathers information about students’ identities and their experiences at school. Families can add their student to their account, so they are signed up to receive alerts for their specific bus and zone cancellations.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">When all transportation is cancelled across the district, the notification is sent as a general notice from Tri-Board to everyone with an account. The LDSB will not be communicating this information directly with families. Invitation for Applications External Members for the Audit Committee

The Limestone District School Board is seeking community members with strong financial expertise and business acumen to serve as external members of its Audit Committee for a three‑year term beginning September 2026.The Audit Committee consists of three Trustees and two independent community members. Its mandate is to assist the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its governance and oversight responsibilities. Key areas of responsibility include:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Oversight of the financial reporting process</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Review of the internal control framework</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Monitoring risk management practices</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">Evaluation of the performance of internal and external auditors</li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem">Ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements</li></ul>The Committee meets three times per year. Pride Month Recognition in Limestone

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) Education Centre, along with schools across the district, is recognizing Pride Month in the KFL&A region by flying the Progress Pride Flag for the remainder of the school year.The Government of Canada notes that the manner in which the Canadian flag is displayed is not governed by legislation. The guidelines provided are not mandatory for individuals or organizations but are intended to offer general direction.After consultation and clarification from Heritage Canada and communication with trustees, LDSB schools with only one flagpole will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag for the balance of this school year.  Limestone’s goal will be to increase the number of schools with more than one flagpole and/or the addition of yardarms to existing flagpoles to display more than the Canadian flag. Until this goal is achieved, we will fly the Progress Pride flag under the Canadian flag at sites with only one flagpole.Displaying the Progress Pride Flag is a way for LDSB to show support for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. This recognition does not diminish our respect for Canada’s national flag; rather, it reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, staff, and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected in Limestone schools.Flying the Progress Pride Flag is one example of how LDSB demonstrates its inclusive culture. 2026 05 14 Community Foundation Grant for Summer Math and Literacy

LDSB Receives $25,000 Grant to Support Elementary Summer Learning

The Limestone District School Board (LDSB) has received a $25,000 grant through the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area’s Community Grants Program in support of its Elementary Summer Literacy and Math Program.The three-week program supports Limestone students finishing Senior Kindergarten to Grade 3 by strengthening foundational skills in reading, writing, and mathematics to help set students up for success in the following school year.Grant funding will be used to purchase literacy and math learning resources and to create family engagement packages. These take-home resources are designed to support learning at home and encourage families to engage in literacy and math activities alongside their students.The LDSB is grateful to the Community Foundation for Kingston and Area for their generous support, helping students across the district access this important summer learning opportunity.

Upcoming Family Engagement and Climate Survey

The Limestone District School Board is inviting families to take part in the Family Engagement and Climate Survey. This survey gives families an opportunity to share their experiences with their student’s school and with the school board.The feedback helps us understand what is working well and where we can improve. It also supports schools and school councils in building welcoming, safe, and supportive school communities.The survey includes questions about:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">How schools communicate and share information</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Whether families feel welcome, included, and connected</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Barriers to taking part in school activities, such as time, childcare, language, accessibility, or cost</li><li value="4" class="editor-listitem">Safety and bullying, including reporting and follow‑up</li><li value="5" class="editor-listitem">Licensed Before and After School Programs, including questions to help inform future planning</li><li value="6" class="editor-listitem">Some questions ask about family background to help us better understand different experiences across our communities</li></ul>Participation is voluntary and anonymous. Families may skip any questions they choose. No names or identifying information are collected. Results are shared only as grouped summaries and are used to support learning, planning, and improvement at the board, school, and school council levels.The survey will be open from May 1 to May 11 and will be available online. Families will receive an e-mail on May 1 with a link to the survey. Dear Families,As we enter the spring season and final third of the school year, we are reminded of this season’s promise of renewal and growth, and the key role schools and families have together in supporting student learning and well-being. While this week has been very wet and rainy, the warmer temperatures of spring are upon us.  I would like to take this opportunity to share a few important updates with you:P.A. Day – Friday, April 17A reminder to families that tomorrow, Friday, April 17, is a P.A. Day. There will be no classes for students, and we look forward to welcoming them back to school on Monday.Family Engagement and Climate Survey – Coming in MayIn early May, Limestone will be inviting families to take part in a Family Engagement and Climate Survey. The optional survey is anonymous, and families can choose which questions they want to answer.The survey asks about topics such as feeling connected to school, family involvement, safety and bullying, communication, before- and after-school programming, and how technology like artificial intelligence is used in schools.The feedback shared through this survey helps schools and the school board understand what is working well, what could improve, and what may make it harder for some families to take part. Reviewing and analyzing this information helps support safe, welcoming, and inclusive school environments and supports the board’s obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code. The findings support planning and decision-making that promotes equity, well being, and student success across Limestone schools. An overview of the Student Census 2025 was presented to the Board of Trustees at last night’s board meeting.
